Hullo ma wee beauties! Guid tae see ye. Hoo’s it gaun? Here at PAPERBOY, we don’t go in for crude national stereotypes. We’re above all that. And so are ye. But you may have guessed from our bonnie tartan cover that PAPERBOY is proud to deliver to you his first (and with any luck last) Scottish Issue.
In the Scottish Issue, then: tasty scran, braw claes and pure dead brilliant patter. D’ye know that the world’s strongest men are Scottish? That’s not an opinion. It’s an attested fact. Miranda Collinge (not Scottish, but top hen) meets them. We also hear from the world’s best chef, Jeremy Lee (definitely Scottish), on his treasured possessions. And from Lou Stoppard (also not Scottish, also top hen) on the poignancy of lost gloves. (No idea what, if anything, this has to do with Scotland.)
Oh, and we’ve tracked doon Nessie (more Scottish than Billy Connolly reading Rabbie Burns by the side of a loch while Mel Gibson applies face-paint to a Highland stag) and we have exclusive images to prove it.
Plus 22 pages of naked people in a field in Scotland wearing hats, scarves, and gloves. Because it’s cold up there, ken? There is stuff for English speakers, too! Including one story by a young writer about a lassie who wakes one morning to find that everything ever invented by a Scot has vanished overnight. Which would include this magazine.
